چکیده

Definition 1.2. Let n ≥ 1 and let G be an abelian group. The fundamental class of K(G, n) is the cohomology class ιn ∈ H (K(G, n);G) corresponding to idG via the isomorphism H n (K(G, n);G) ∼= HomZ(G,G). More explicitly, let ψ : πnK(G, n) ∼= −→ G be some chosen identification, and let h : πn (K(G, n)) ∼= −→ Hn (K(G, n);Z) denote the Hurewicz morphism, defined by h(α) = α∗(un), where un ∈ Hn(S) is a suitably chosen generator. Then ιn is defined by the equation 〈ιn, h(α)〉 = ψ(α)

ON THE CAPACITY OF EILENBERG-MACLANE AND MOORE SPACES

K. Borsuk in 1979, at the Topological Conference in Moscow, introduced concept of the capacity of a compactum and asked some questions concerning properties of the capacity ofcompacta. In this paper, we give partial positive answers to three of these questions in some cases. In fact, by describing spaces homotopy dominated by Moore and Eilenberg-MacLane spaces, the capacities of a Moore space $...

Pacific Journal of Mathematics Loop Spaces of H-spaces with Finitely Generated Cohomology

Suppose X is a simply connected mod p H-space such that the mod p cohomology H ((X) is a nitely generated algebra. We show that the loop space X is homotopy equivalent to a nite product of Eilenberg-MacLane spaces K ; 1) for i 1. This is a generalization of the result due to Lin, in which the same result was proved under the assumption that X is an A p-space.

Plenary Session # 1 Saturday 9 : 00 - 10 :

Large scale phenomena in homotopy theory (Jordan Hall 124) Paul Goerss (Northwestern University) In the late 1940s it wasn’t clear which was the harder problem: the cohomology of Eilenberg-MacLane spaces or the stable homotopy groups of spheres. After the Cartan-Serre work on Eilenberg-MacLane spaces in the early ’50s, people then optimistically set about computing the homotopy groups of sphere...

Polynomial-time homology for simplicial Eilenberg-MacLane spaces

In an earlier paper of Čadek, Vokř́ınek, Wagner, and the present authors, we investigated an algorithmic problem in computational algebraic topology, namely, the computation of all possible homotopy classes of maps between two topological spaces, under suitable restriction on the spaces. We aim at showing that, if the dimensions of the considered spaces are bounded by a constant, then the comput...
